RESOLUTION PASSED AT THE GENERAL COUNCIL MEETING OF 16th MAY, 2007 Whereas: the price of fuel, vehicle parts and other factors associated with the costs of traveling by Traveling Officer continue to escalate; and Whereas: the traveling allowances paid by Government are not compatible with the cost expended by Traveling Officers, thus causing Traveling Officers to be burdened in the execution of their duties; and Whereas: the St.Lucia Civil Service Association (CSA) had taken the plight and concerns of Traveling Officers into consideration and had submitted a proposal for the review of the Traveling and Subsistence Allowance; and Whereas: the General Council meeting of the CSA of 16th May, 2007, took cognizance of the length of time since the submission of the proposal (12th November, 2006) and that the Traveling and Subsistence Committee has not received the directive to undertake the review; Be it Resolved: that the Traveling and Subsistence Committee of the Ministry of Finance be convened to review the Traveling and Subsistence Allowance, in the framework of the attached proposal submitted by the CSA, by 18th June, 2007; and Be it further Resolved: that if the matter is not addressed by the given date and with a favourable outcome, the General Council advises the CSA to initiate measures for Traveling Officers to park their vehicles after the stipulated 300 mile limit and subsequently to stop traveling on Government duties. |
